By Bus

There are several bus operators that transport visitors from Naples to Rome, like Flixbus or SITA. The journey should take less than an hour, with a bus departing every 20-30 minutes.

By Car

The distance between Naples and Pompeii is about 25 km and should take less than 30 minutes to cover by car or taxi. If you’re driving down, take the Motorway A3 and exit at Pompeii Est or Pompeii Ovest.

By Train

If you’re taking the train, alight at the Pompeii Scavi-Villa dei Misteri station. A train leaves approximately every 30 minutes and your journey should take about 40 minutes from Napoli Centrale Station to Pompeii. From here, you need to walk a few minutes to get to the town’s entrance.

By Bus

You can take a bus from Rome to Pompeii. You have two route options: one, taking a direct bus from Rome to Pompeii, or taking a detour through Naples. If you’re taking a bus directly from Rome to Pompeii, the journey should take about 3 hours.

By Car

If you’re planning to drive down, take the E45 via Strada Statale. The journey should take about 2.5 hours to cover a stretch of about 245 km.

By Train

You can go from Rome to Pompeii by taking the train; however you would need to transit through Naples. Take a train from Roma Termini Station to Napoli Centrale Station, the duration of which is about 1 hour 10 minutes. From there, you can directly take a train to Pompeii Scavi station.
